Aisha ( may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet ( peace be upon him) said : " Siwak is a way of purifying the mouth ans satisfying the Lord "
Abu Hurayrah also narrated that the Prophet ( peace be upon him) said : " Five practices are of the natural disposition : circumcision , istihadad , cutting the mustache short , removing the hair of the armpits and clipping the nails." Siwak, which is a kind of stick used in brushing the teeth and gum in order to remove yellowness and undesirable smell. As known by the majority of Muslims , siwak is one of the practice of Allah's Messenger. Therefore , the first to use siwak was our Prophet Ibrahim ( alayhi salam). Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ( aleyhi salat wa salam) has pointed out that siwak is a means of "purifying the mouth" ( it is a mouth cleaner that remove bad odor and the like) and he also stated that it is a way to satisfy Allah as it please Allah , the Exalted. Siwak is to be done with a soft tooth-stick of an arak or olive tree, with a dry date-stalk or such in order to not hurt or crumble the mouth. Moreover , the siwak is to be oberved at all time even when you are fasting and siwak it stressed when performing ablution , for the Prophet ( peace be upon him) said : " But for fear that it would be hard for my followers , I would have ordered them to use siwak on every performance of ablution" Logically , when you want to use siwak during ablution , it is used when rinsing your mouth with water to ensure the purity and cleanliness of the mouth. Using siwak is also stressed act of Sunnah to be observed when standing for prayer , be it obligatory or superogatory. Why ? because we are commanded upon any act of worship to be in PERFECT state of physical and spriritual purity befetting the honor and glory of worshipping Allah , the Greatest. This sunnah is also stressed when you want to read the Glorious Qu'ran. - But , how is it used ? Siwak is used by rubbing the gum and teeth starting from the right side of the mouth and then moving towards the left and you must hold it with the LEFT hand. Now , let's study the acts of natural dispositions. They are as follows : 1) Istihdad : which means shaving the pubic hair. It is called istihdad in arabic because it is derived from the word "hadid" which means razor. Removing such hair is a way of beautification as well as purification. Also , you are free from removing it however you want. 2) Circumcision : It is preferable to be done during childhood and the wound would heal faster and in order to let the child grow in the healthiest way. 3) Cutting the mustache short : it is sad to see that in some countries , men still don't understand it. They cut and shave the beard but keep the moustache. It is also a way of beautification , purification and avoidance of imitating the polytheists. To let the beard grow is a sign of mannish beauty 4) clipping the nails : It is a way of beautification and a way of removing dirt beneath the fingernails ans also avoiding being like the beasts. Unfortunately , nowadays , women do not follow this Sunnah , but they prefer to follow their desires and let their nails as long as polytheist women. 5) Removing the hair of the armpits : To get rid of the increasing bad odor associated with the presence of such hair. Dear readers , let's not take the example of East and Westerns but let's happily and strongly follow the path of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him) , because there is no other better example than him to follow....<3
