We will see in this article/ chapter , the correct way of answering the call of nature. It may be simple but how many of us forget this sunnah?? W alsoe will learn about the importance of cleanliness of a Muslim. It is desirable for the Muslim upon entering the bathroom to say : "In the name of Allah , i seek refuge with Allah from all offensive and wicked things ( evil deeds and evil spirits) " , stepping in with the left leg. On the contrary , when you are about to leave , it is desirable to step out with the right leg and invoke Allah by saying : " I seek Your forgiveness.Praise to be Allah , who removed harm from me and gave me health" But why seeking forgiveness? Because we are not enough grateful to Allah and we take things so easily and for granted. We think that being able to answer call of nature is easy , but it wouldn't be easy without the help of Allah. It is indeed a very difficult task for some unhealthy people to answer the call of nature by themselves. To sum up , the right hand or leg is used for whatever is related to beautification and honor , while left hand or leg is used for whatever is related to removing impurities and the like. In the case one has to answer call of Nature out of doors ( a place not prepared for that purpose , like somewhere in the nature where people can see) , it is better for one to do so away from people , behind a wall , a tree or whatever thing can hide you. In addition , one who answer the call of nature is prohibited from facing or turning one's back from the qiblah, rather , one should by respect , one should move eastward or westward as the Prophet ( peace be upon him) has forbidden both to be done. On the other hand , one must be cautious of splashing his urine because it can soil one body or garment. That is the reason one is recommended to chose a smooth ground when having to urinate out of doors. As it was said earlier , it is thus forbidden to touch one's stool ( feces) or urine with the right hand. It is also forbidden to answer the call of nature in the road or at a place where people are used to pass or a place they use as a shelter or even in a source of water used by people as such deeds cause harm to people. Unfortunately , how many people don't respect these instructions and how many of us can see urine so easily in roads's corner!! The Muslim is the brother of one another , he shouldn't do something which he wouldn't like others to do to him. It is also worth mentioning , one should never enter a bath having something like paper or document , containing the Name of Allah or any Qu'ranic verses. In the case where someone fear of losing them ( documents/papers) , it is permissible for one to enter the bath with them but they should be covered with something. One isn't allowed to speak during answering the call of nature because it is mentionned in a hadith that Allah hate such deed. Logically , is it haram to recite Qu'ran in both a bath or while answering the call of nature. Furthermore , as the believer have to be in state of cleanliness all the time ( from a major part of the time) , he should perform 'istinja, istijmar or their subtitutes. It is in fact better for one to both perform istinja and istijma' , to be sure of being clean , yet performing either is sufficient. What is the difference between Istinja and Istijmar ? Istinja consist of cleaning one's stool or urine's exits with stones or its substitute , such as , paper to ensure the cleanliness or dryness of the exits , one clean them thrice or more , if necessary ( of course it is in the case one can't find paper , he can use rock) What's impermissible is using dung or bones to clean one's stool or urine as Prophet forbidden that. Some Faqihs ( scholars of islamic jurisprudence) maintain that Istinja or Istinjmar is one of the conditions of the validity of ablution , that must be performed before it. It is thus to be said that ablution is invalid if it is perfomed without istinja/istijmar. This opinion is also based to ensure the validity of the ablution and to avoid any suspicion. It is thus important to add that one must purify oneself from urine , as negligence in this regard is one of the reasons for the tortures of the grave. Abu Hurayrah reported that the prophet ( peace be upon him) said : " Purify yourselves from urine for most of the punishment in the grave is because of it" Perfection of purification leads to easiness and perfection of performing acts of prayer. Imam Ahmad ( rahimahullah) narrated on the authority of one of the companions of the Prophet that the Prophet was leading the people in Subh prayer , he was not certain about what he recited. So the Prophet , finished prayer and said : " The Qu'ran becomes dubious to us because some of you perform prayer without perfoming ablution properly , so whoever witnesses the prayer with us should perform ablution properly" To conclude this chapter , one should only perform istinja or istinjma after answering the call of nature. Many people perfom it unecessarily before every wudhu. If one pass a wind , he doesn't have to perform istinjma nor istinja ,this is the same rule after one sleep lighly ot deeply , in this case wudhu must be performed only. It is wrong to mistakenly believe that istinja or istijmar is an integral part of ablution as many people think. They are both just the requirements and are to be performed ONLY after answering the call of nature.
